Superior efficiency and a sensible better driving experience can be reached thanks to the Electric Power Steering with driving modes, that allows you to adjust the steering effort and feel with three available options: Sport, Normal, Comfort. All engines feature the 8-speed automatic transmission and 3.0L Multijet II and 3.6L Pentastar have standard Engine Stop – Start function.
Eco Mode helps improve fuel economy by adjusting the transmission shift schedule, idle speed and interactive deceleration fuel shut off. In models equipped with a V8 engine, Eco Mode also adjusts Fuel Saver cylinder deactivation. Automatically engaged upon vehicle start up, Eco Mode activates the available Quadra-Lift® air suspension system and lowers the Jeep® Grand Cherokee when the vehicle’s speed exceeds 88 kph (55 mph). On 4WD models in 4H, the system alters the front-to-rear torque split to help increase fuel efficiency.
Legendary Jeep® vehicle capability improves with the Selec-Terrain® traction control system, giving you five modes to tackle almost any condition including snow. Traction is also enhanced through the available Quadra-Trac II® or Quadra-Drive® II 4WD systems. The available Quadra-Lift® air suspension system features five height settings for optimum ride performance.
This revolutionary system gives you ultimate control of your suspension by raising your vehicle to a maximum ground clearance of 275 mm which is 55 mm higher than normal ride height. You can also lower it up to 40 mm for easy entry, exit and loading. The system also raises the vehicle from back-to-front to help keep its headlights focused on the road.
With over 70 available safety and security features, the 2017 Grand Cherokee comes standard with multistage driver and front-passenger airbags and supplemental side-curtain airbags. Standard crush zones in the front of the vehicle and side guard door beams (integrated into the design) also help absorb excess energy and decrease its transfer to occupants.
Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) system employs dual radar sensors to check driver blind spots and constantly monitors the space between your Jeep® Grand Cherokee and vehicles on either side. When the system detects a vehicle that is too close, an audible chime will sound and an illuminated icon will appear on the exterior view mirrors to alert you.
The 2017 Jeep® Grand Cherokee features two systems that work together to help you park in a safety and comfortable way. The new ParkView® Rear Back Up Camera with the ParkSense® Front and Rear Park Assist System alerts you to possible obstacles, helping to make parking and backing out easier. The camera displays a rearview video image with dynamic distance grid lines when in reverse. During parking and other similar maneuvers, these systems help bring previously hidden front and rear objects to your attention and provides you with an audible warning that helps give you time to react.
Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist, now available on Jeep® Grand Cherokee makes parking that much easier. Once it identifies a parking space, the system directs the driver with audible instructions, which also appear in the Driver Information Cluster Display. The driver controls the gear position, brake and accelerator while the guidance system controls the steering wheel.
This new features measures your position within lane boundaries. If it detects an unintentional lane drift, it will alert you and correct the vehicle back into the lane.
Even the most attentive drivers will appreciate these warning systems. Approach another object too rapidly and Forward Collision Warning (FCW) with Crash Mitigation alerts you with an audible and visual warning and automatically engages the brakes if a collision is imminent. The Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) automatically adjusts cruising speed to maintain a preset distance between you and vehicles in front of you.
A network of safety and security sensors helps maintain vehicle directional control and provide assistance automatically when they sense divergence from your intended path. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) coordinates Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM), the Antilock Brake System (ABS), and All-speed Traction Control, sending each system into action when wheel slippage is detecte.
